Fresh water container (mizusashi) with gritty, iron red surface. Glazed on the inside only. The mizusashi was first formed by coiling and then thrown on the potter's wheel. The rim curves toward the inside of the vessel where the maroon glazed lid is recessed. The handle of the lid has been made of cord stiffened with lacquer. The front of the vessel (shomen) is easily identifiable by a pattern of black iron oxide blown over the surface. The mizusashi is signed on the bottom. A box is made on specific request only.
